Matt Sullivan & Alex Sieligowski

Owners Alex Sieligowski and Matt Sullivan have a history dating back to 2000 when Alex played drums in a local Queens, NY band, and they both grew up in the same area. Over the years, they occasionally bumped into each other at shows and parties. In 2005, while Alex was at Queens College, he took a summer apprenticeship at Honeywell, working on HVAC and BMS projects in the tri-state area. Impressed by the field, he accepted a full-time position, eventually becoming a Building Automation Systems Foreman during his 15-year tenure.

In 2018, Alex's desire to start his own HVAC/BMS consulting and subcontracting business wasn't met with interest, so he ventured into the restaurant industry, opening pizzerias in 2019 and 2020.

In 2006, Matt joined the trade by working at Agee Heating Services, where he learned plumbing, heating, and air conditioning under George and Chris. Seeking new opportunities, he moved to Long Island to work with his friend Joe Ragone, whose father owned Ritefire, an oil service company. He dabbled in various heating systems and even helped out at Alex's pizzeria.

One night, Matt expressed his desire to leave Ritefire, sparking the idea of starting NYHC Plumbing & Mechanical with Alex. They decided to make the leap, leaving their respective businesses. The name "NYHC Plumbing & Mechanical" was suggested humorously during discussions with their lawyers and accountants, paying homage to New York Hardcore, a music genre they both loved.

In the fall of 2021, they formalized their partnership, and their accountant presented them with paperwork, surprising them with the registered name "NYHC Plumbing & Mechanical" instead of the initially planned "SNS Plumbing & Mechanical," all thanks to their shared love for hardcore music.
